More to come next time.
A story about millions of people and one dream…
“The Red Star Line Museum invites you on an eventful journey in the footsteps of the emigrants. Become acquainted with the passengers and accompany them on their trip from their native village to Antwerp. The ocean steamers of the Red Star Line are docked on the quay ready to depart for the New World. Exciting and personal stories accompany you across the ocean. On the other side of the ocean you say goodbye to your fellow passengers.” – quote from the Museum site.
Migration started a long time ago but it is also very actual now. The following pictures give you an impression of migration throughout the years. They were exposed in the museum on screens set up in one big circle. I took the pictures from the screens but the original pictures are not from me. I was allowed by them useum to take pictures.
Enjoy the little tour of happiness, sadness, goodbye, war, lonelyless and brave people…
Due to my dad’s illness I have not been able to post a lot. Our dad died on the 17th of December 2013. It now gives me the time to grieve and post the pics I’ve been taking but not published yet.
During our walks with our dad, we walked in the green zone of a small city-village Lier (in the province of Antwerp). It’s a small city where you also have a lot of green and water.
