Happy 2014!

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something. So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make your mistakes, next year and forever.” – Neil Gaiman

I found this quote on the internet and it inspired me. My son and I were talking about me yesterday. And I do recognize that I’m afraid of a lot of things. Because I’m afraid, there are things in my life that I avoid. It’s weak, I know that too. I crawl into my shelf and keep myself away from things I know I would really like to do. So this is a promise to myself: I will try to become a bit stronger and fight against my fear for new things.

I hope that 2014 will bring you a life full of happiness.

Today my dad lost his fight against cancer. He was diagnosed with stage 4 brain tumor. My sisters and I got a whole year to say goodbye to him. We are so thankful for this. 21 years ago our mum also died of cancer. We didn’t have time back than to say goodbye. Now we all have two guardian angels who watch over us and our children.

Come home safe dad! We all love you and will miss you.
